As a kid, Jessica Owles dreamed of one day becoming a competitive ski racer. Today, though still only a teenager, she’s already made that dream a reality.
I have been skiing ever since I was 3 years old. I was born in Australia but moved to England when I was young. I grew up playing many different sports and going skiing on vacations. I then moved, when I was 12, to the United States, when I was 12, and decided to go to Stratton Mountain School, a ski academy in Southern Vermont. Ever since my first day here here I have loved it!
When I was little, I remember when I went skiing in Les Arcs, France. I always wanted to go and watch the French ski team train. Now I look back at that small girl who loved to watch ski racing and it seems weird to think that I do it every day. It’s a dream come true.
My main notable achievements are having an 11th finish in the Vermont State Championship GS, qualifying for the U14 Eastern Championships, and starting 81st to finishing 42nd in the GS at Easterns.
