When runners, walkers and spectators reach the end of the Bolder Boulder 10K race, they will be greeted by a familiar sight. For the fifth year in a row, Boulder manufacturer Polar Bottle will be in prime position at the finish line selling its colorful insulated water bottles – for less than half price. “It’s one way we say thank you to our hometown, because Boulder’s unique outlook and supportive community, have been key to our identity and success over the past twenty years,” says Judy Amabile Polar Bottle President. “Though we now have customers across the USA and in 42 countries, we still operate all our design and manufacturing from Boulder, Colorado, so we make a point of being at the race and the Pearl Street Expo over the Memorial Day weekend. It’s always a great chance to see old friends and make new ones”.
The inaugural Bolder Boulder was held in 1979 and drew 2,200 participants. Today the race has grown substantially and draws over 50,000 participants and as many spectators. The race is recognized as “America’s All-time Best 10K” by Runners World Magazine.
From humble beginnings in a Boulder garage, Polar Bottle now employs 80 employees at its North East Boulder design and production facility. The company prides itself on being an active donor to a wide range of causes and charities and in being part of the revival of US manufacturing.
